Did you know that different breeds of chickens lay different colored eggs?

That’s right…not only the white or brown eggs you see at the store…some hens lay variations of pink, blue, green, olive, ivory, or dark chocolate brown colored eggs…how cool is that!?!? The color on the outside of the egg is the only thing that changes though; the inside is still white, and the yolk and egg white look the same. The pigment, or color, on the outside of the egg, is the last thing to be added just before the egg is laid. So, if you choose a mixed flock with several different breeds, you can have your very own daily Easter basket of colorful fresh eggs!
